Katherine is a painter who loves coastal life. She grew up on the coast of Rhode Island and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. While Katherine is best known for her coastal and farm art, she is influenced by the scenes that surround her. Katherine's subjects are varied, including sailing, landscapes, seascapes, shells, boats, farms, and animals. Living in the quiet town of Oxford, where her father was a marine biologist, provided the perfect foundation for both her interest in marine life and her passion for art to thrive. Katherine attended the University of Maryland where she received a BS in Advertising Design. She recognizes she is a realist with an impressionistic view and feels that less detail and more suggestion of, works best for her art and gives her viewer a fresh perspective.
Kate Ballantine ~ "Scenes from the Shore"
Kate practiced landscape architecture for twenty-five years in Connecticut. She moved to the Eastern Shore in 2009 and has recently started a new venture, KB China. Her "series" Scenes from the Shore has been inspired by her life here. The series includes Log Canoes, Waterfowl, Watermen, and Yachting. Each piece is part of it's own series, but we have found that they also go well with one another.
